The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The following process should be done to apply for Gate 2015

STEP 1: Enrolment/Registration.

STEP 2: Login

STEP 3: Profile Filling/Save/Edit

STEP 4: Photo, Signature and Documents uploading

STEP 5: Payment (E-Challan payment/Netbanking)

STEP 6: Download and Print PDFs

When it comes to step 4 , students face lot of difficulties in uploading the photo , signature and certificates in format specified. These are the formats for uploading. 

DOCUMENT	FORMAT	SIZE
Photo	Jpeg/jpg	3.5 cm(width)×4.5cm (height) (480×640) in pixels Should be between 5KB and 100 KB Resolution >200dpi
Signature	Jpeg/jpg	7 cm(width) × 2 cm(height) (264.566 × 75.590) in pixels Should be between 5KB and 100 KB
certificates	Pdf	Size of pdf file should be less than 200 KB

Step 2 : upload your photo

Step 3 : select basic option in it. Select resize option

Step 4 : Type required pixels , uncheck (keep aspect ratio)

Step 5 : click apply changes

Step 6 : download ur edited photo (click file > save as jpg)

Now u can upload the Photo to Gate 2015 application form
